Rotary Free Public Skate Event

One of Building Caring Communities’ objectives is to aid local organizations and clubs in building more welcoming spaces in community, so when a connector from BCC joined the local Rotary Club, it was a perfect fit!

The Rotary Club members organized their first annual “Rotary Free Public Skate Event” at Canlan 8 Rinks on January 24th.

They offered face painting, figure skating and hockey tips, hot chocolate, cotton candy and goodie bags and 8 Rinks supplied the venue.

Over 350 people turned out for the event, some coming all the way from Pitt Meadows. So many people came for the fun family event that some had to be turned away due to capacity issues.  However, 8 Rinks did not want to disappoint so they offered 2 for 1 coupons for skating at another time. Everyone left having enjoyed a good day of skating with friends.
